• ALRIGHT!!!! My first cigar review for my blog. About time… Anyway, I attended the Gurkha Cigar Event at the Tobacco Barn in Lake Forest, CA 2 weeks ago. And I was given the Gurkha Ancient Warrior Robusto cigar. WOW! What a good little cigar. I smoked it right down to end and I still didn’t want to put it out. Very tasty and had a  nice even burn all the way down to the nub and very consistent.  The size is 4.5 in length and a 52 ring gauge. The wrapper is Brazilian, the binder is Nicaraguan and the filler is Dominican/Honduran. I love Nicaraguan tobacco, has to be my favorite.
I just smoked this cigar while at work after a delicious Mexican lunch consisting of two carne asada tacos and some chips with salsa. Washed it all down with ice cold water. I know, I wish the beverage would been something with alcohol but, I was at work. Do I recommend this cigar? Heck YEAH!!! The cigar is so good The Tobacco Barn sold out of them that night. I can’t wait until they get more in.
Until next time, Smoke ‘Em If You Got ‘Em.
  • I own a few Zippo lighters. One I inserted the Z-Plus lighter insert which I think works great by converting my Zippo from a flint/lighter fluid lighter to a butane electric piezo lighter. I am a fan of the Zippo lighters because, I feel the lighters are always reliable; however, that doesn’t mean I don’t have any complaints about the Zippo lighters. For one, the fluid in a Zippo seems to leak out within a week after you refill it even though you didn’t use more than maybe a couple of times and second is the lighter fluid itself. I know Zippo came out with a new & improved lighter fluid but, I haven’t had a chance to use it yet. If you know anything about the new and improved Zippo lighter fluid let me know. In the meantime, check out this REALLY COOL Zippo Trick Video (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/83880/zippo_tricks/). http://www.metacafe.com/fplayer/83880/zippo_tricks.swf

  • I know what you are thinking, “Another Cigar Review?!” Well, you are right. It is what it is. The main reason for mine is to help me remember which cigars I thought were excellent, good or not. I enjoy a good cigar and have smoked quite a few different ones over the years. I want to keep a journal that will help me to remember. My memory is good but, it is short.
I love enjoying cigars with a group of friends during poker night or during a big event. Sometimes I like to enjoy a cigar by myself after a hard day’s work or over a beautiful sunny California weekend with an ice cold beverage. The best time I had with a cigar was when my wife and I celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at the Churchill Lounge in Old Town San Diego. If you have never been to Old Town San Diego, be sure to go. You will have fun.
I remember when I had my first cigar… I was 16… At the time we thought Dutch Masters, White Owls and Swisher Sweets were the greatest cigars made. Come to think of it, we thought they were the only cigars made. I come from a small town in Wisconsin where the only places you get a cigar was at a gas station, a little independant convenience store or a drug store. Back then, I don’t think our little town had a shop that sold good premium cigars. I could be wrong but, we just kids and didn’t know any better. We only smoked the cigars when we were out fishing or ice fishing. We heard rumored that cigars keep the mosquitoes away while fishing in the spring/summer and helped keep you warm while ice fishing. Anyway, I am basically going to post up info on some cigars that I have smoked and any information that I might find interesting relating to cigars and who knows maybe I will put things up that have nothing to do with cigars. I can’t promise this will be updated on a regular basis as I am not very good at this stuff. I have another blog already up and I barely keep that one updated.
