Today I attended a memorial service for James C. Allison who was the previous owner of the Tobacco Barn in Lake Forest, California. I maybe bias but, I believe the Barn as we all call it, is the best Tobacco (cigar/pipe) Shop in the USA. Anyway, this was a great memorial service for a great man. The service was held at the Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary in Corona Del Mar, what a beautiful place. When I pass on from this Earth, I want to be buried there. After the service we all met at the Tobacco Barn for a reception. In honor of Jim, I lit up a La Flor Dominicana Ligero 300 which was one of Jim’s favorite cigars. Jim and Norma, his wife, ran the Tobacco Barn for 40 years and not, only was he just the owner but, he was a friend… To me he was like a Grandpa and always had a positive outlook on life. When he was struggling with his health he would always say, “No sick talk, I feel fantastic!” After asking him if he is okay or how is he feeling. He enjoyed life along with an occasional cigar or a pipe bowl filled up with tobacco.
God bless you Jim Allison, it is an honor getting to know you for the little time I had with you and hope to see you soon to light up that big cigar in the sky.
